One Body Collaboratives Referral Network for Partner Churches

When someone walks into your church and asks for help, whether it's a congregation member or someone else, we know that the heart of the church is to always want to help. However, it puts stress on your pastor and your staff to know all of the resources available to provide assistance.  Our Referral Network is a service provided to local Churches as a way to connect congregants needs with community resources.  We are a Christian ministry serving individuals in need referred to us by local churches in our community. 

We are a Referral source only, providing referrals to community resources, such as agencies, social services, ministries, etc.  We do not have funds to pay bills like rent, deposits, car repairs or utilities.  We are unable to assist with emergency situations.

Our staff treats all individuals with dignity and respect and advocates for our callers to proactively find solutions to their needs.  As we are a Christian ministry, many times at the end of a call will offer to pray with the individual, or the individual will ask for prayer. 

Eligibility/Policies
The caller must have a referral from a local church. The referrals we are able to provide our callers are within our immediate area of Boone and Winnebago Counties.  Assistance is provided in the form of appropriate referrals to address the callers needs based on the area of residence.  We are unable to provide financial assistance of any kind. One Body does not pay bills, like rent, deposits or utilities as there are programs and services provided by agencies and nonprofits that cover these expenses. 

How to Reach the Referral Network
The phone number for churches to provide to individuals in need of calling our office at 815-979-4377.  Our Ministry phone lines are open Monday through Thursday from 9am to 1pm.   If the call comes in when the office is closed, the caller has the option to leave a message which is returned the next business day.

As we are not available to assist in emergency situations, or there may be times that other resources may be more easily accessible, we have provided information on other sources of assistance.  These include:

Community Services including Community Health & Prevention, Housing Programs, Community Action Programs, Energy Programs. The Direct Client Assistance Program assists low-income persons with financial assistance for a variety of issues related to self-sufficiency or emergency needs.

United Way 211 is an easy to remember telephone number and text line that connects residents with free information and referrals for community services within Ogle and Winnebago counties. United Way 211 offers information on a broad range of services, including: rent assistance, food banks, affordable housing, health resources, childcare, after-school programs, elderly care, financial literacy, job training programs.

Available 24/7, simply dial 2-1-1 to connect to trained staff and volunteers who will listen to your situation and quickly refer you to the most appropriate source of assistance. To text with a 211 operator, text your zip code to 898-211 to get started. Texting services are available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. CST. Northern Illinois Homeless Coalition, 779-207-2763
A community-wide commitment to ending homelessness, provides funding for efforts by nonprofit providers and governments to quickly re-house homeless residents to minimize trauma and dislocation; promote access to and effective utilization of mainstream programs; and optimize self-sufficiency among those experiencing homelessness. Our office serves as the Single Point of Entry where homeless living in a place not meant for human habitation in Winnebago and Boone Counties can be assessed and offered the best and quickest housing solution and related services appropriate for their needs.

The Family Peace Center is a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary service center located at 315 N. Main Street in Rockford, that provides services to victims of inter-personal violence.

Mental Health Co-Responder Team, 779-500-6555
The Mental Health Co-Responder Program is a collaboration between the City of Rockford, Rockford Police Department, Winnebago County Sheriff, Loves Park Police Department and Rosecrance.  Crisis Co-Response Team (CCRT) changes the way law enforcement traditionally responds to behavioral health crises by including a mental health clinician on the initial response, while also providing follow up services to link individuals to the care they need.
